Framework for spontaneous activities
THE STUDIO: DIIR
DIIR is an architecture studio founded in 2018 through the vision of four architects: David Meana, Ignacio Navarro, Íñigo Palazón, and Ricardo Fernández. The young firm is committed to the dialogue between beauty and the lived experience of people, influencing their daily lives and the quality of their existence. Consequently, it has been recognized by the COAM as an emerging studio and by AD as one of the most promising young studios.
Their work is grounded in four fundamental pillars:
Rigor in all their projects, reflecting their dedication and perseverance.
Sensitivity manifested through closeness to the client and active listening.
Timelessness in their designs, guided by transparency and sincerity.
Resonance, driven by their capacity to generate maximum impact on users with the available resources.
THE CLIENT: PRIVATE
This is a commission for a private client.
THE PROJECT
It is a multidisciplinary space designed to host diverse events and business concepts in a single location, without the need for elaborate productions. It does not follow a fixed program but is conceived as a framework for spontaneous activities, accommodating improvisation and innovation.
The project unfolds through a sequence of material transitions: from the monumental stainless steel entrance door—a bold and massive gesture—to a granite vestibule that acts as a pause before the great central nave. In this open-plan core, the design plays with the duality between the seen and the hidden; a versatile amphitheater and technical scenography are concealed behind textiles, allowing the space to transform into a neutral-toned, exquisitely detailed collaborative platform.
THE STAINLESS STEEL
Stainless steel plays a crucial role, beyond providing access through the monumental door, it is the mechanism that activates the project's versatility. It is expressed through the imposing metallic cladding that dominates one flank of the room. This continuous plane is not merely an aesthetic finish of great visual power; it is a movable surface that houses the functional program, concealing the kitchen and preparation space. The panels consist of MDF boards clad in 1.5 mm thick vibration-finish stainless steel.
