In the tenth edition of the Acerinox Award, the jury granted the prize to Clara León Manteca, a graduate of the Faculty of Engineering in Bilbao at the University of Deusto. Clara presented her Final Degree Project (TFG) in Mechanical Engineering, entitled: “Topological Optimization, Material Characterization, and Manufacturing through Additive Technologies,” supervised by Professor Dra. Beatriz Achiaga Menor from the Department of Mechanics Design and Industrial Organization of the Faculty of Engineering.

The Jury—chaired by Jon M. Molina-Aldareguía (Director of IMDEA Materials and Professor at UPM) and composed of Bernardo Velázquez Herreros (CEO of Acerinox), Alaitz Zabala (PhD in Materials Engineering and Researcher at Mondragon Unibertsitatea), Juan Pérez Romero (Head of the Projects and Works Department at the Port Authority of Castellón), and Francisco Fernández de la Mata (Director of Acerinox Europa)—highlighted the project for the clarity and precision of its objectives, as well as its academic quality, methodological rigor, originality, overall quality, and impact.

The Jury also emphasized its dual approach: the manufacturing of parts using new technologies and the use of simulations to verify the effectiveness of additive manufacturing in industrial environments, establishing future lines of research.

The date of the X Acerinox Award ceremony will be announced soon through this channel and on our social media platforms.
