"Experience balls"

Murcia Regional Assembly Hall is hosting the exhibition "Experience Balls", by sculptor Fernando Sáenz Elorrieta, until 31 July. A poetic and reflective journey in which each piece revolves around stainless steel spheres, a symbol of experiences that accompany every human being.
These spheres, made of AISI 316 stainless steel with a shiny finish, become the point of union between the figures and the spectator. Their mirror-like surface allows visitors to see themselves reflected, inviting them to identify with the emotions and experiences they represent. According to the artist, these spheres act as repositories of memories where the first kiss, an achievement, a moment of calm or a bike ride can be stored.
Stainless steel and other materials, such as iron and corten steel, are joined together with great technical care. To prevent galvanic corrosion, screws, bolts and cables are also made of stainless steel, thus achieving a safe and durable integration. In addition, rubber or plastic gaskets are discreetly inserted between the parts, which improves the fit and helps to protect against metal-to-metal corrosion. Stainless steel AISI 316 has been chosen for its high corrosion resistance even in aggressive environments.
In order to avoid problems when joining metals, the author applies fundamental principles of metal design.
Working techniques include hand plasma cutting, MIG welding and cold twisting, processes that give each figure its own personality. Spheres, with their impeccable lustre, act as a connecting thread for the exhibition and give cohesion to the different scenes. For example, the Christ carries his sphere as a spiritual legacy, the Icarus takes flight accompanied by it, the reader, calm, keeps it close and the cyclist moves forward with it as an inseparable companion.

“Experience Balls” proposes a reflection on life, the weight of memories and the importance of shared experiences. Each spectator finds in these shiny spheres an intimate reflection, an invitation to fill their own sphere with moments that nourish the soul. An expressive exhibition of the colour of iron and the purity of stainless steel, which leaves its mark on the gaze and the memory of those who come to contemplate it.
