Stainless steel is an amazing material, its multiple applications and behaviour in different environments make it one of the most versatile metals.

In this section you will find the most frequent asked questions and answers, as well as other interesting issues about stainless steel.

We study all technical enquiries that may come up to the stainless steel user, as soon as possible. If you want to send us one, please fill in this form.

Do you know what?

Stainless steels do not need any extra coating to increase their resistance to corrosion.  However, if you need to paint it, the paint should be preceded by a careful preparation of the surface:

  • First, a thorough cleaning of the surface to eliminate any grease.
  • Second, preparing the surface with abrasive paper or felt and again cleaning with a solvent and then rinse with plenty of water.
  • The paint should be applied after a primer depending on the type of painting.
  • Do not forget to comply with the primer and varnish manufacturer's drying time.

It is recommended to follow the recommendations of the experts in painting.

Stainless steel magnetic permeability is usually very low, almost vacuum. To the point of being considered nonmagnetic but, increasing with work hardening.  Sometimes it can come out in deep drawing processes

AISI 304 or AISI 316 may be used in humid environments. The election between them will depend on concentration, design and maintenance, being the latter an essential part that is not always carried out and often causes the failure of the element.

Generally, for pickling stainless steels, mixtures of hydro fluoric and nitric acids are used in different proportions. Since the properties of annealing scales are different, the pickling processes will vary depending on the source of product.
